The Library holdings have been catalogued - to search for items please go to UCL's online catalogue.
The Library contains both published and unpublished works on both the history of the Huguenots in general and on Huguenot families in particular. While the focus of the collection is on the Huguenots as refugees, including their occupations and trades, there are also works on the Huguenots in France and the Reformation. The Library aims to hold the most recent scholarly works on the subject in order to complement the historical collections of Rare Books and pamphlets. There is also a large collection of biographies of notable Huguenots and those of Huguenot descent, and histories of Huguenot families.
The Library contains approximately 1500 Rare Books dating from 1535 (the Geneva, or Olivetan Bible) to the twentieth century. They include works recounting the sufferings of the Huguenots in France, individual tales of persecution and conversion, political tracts and pamphlets on religious debate, and histories of the religious wars. Biographies of prominent figures in Huguenot history and memoirs of household officers connected with them are also a feature of the collection. There are numerous copies of the Bible, psalms, hymns and prayers. All items can be found on the catalogue.
The Library also holds approximately 50 periodical titles, both current and historic, including the journals of Huguenot Societies from around the world, such as America, Poland, South Africa and Australia. A complete run of the Bulletin de la Société de l'histoire du Protestantisme Française is available on the open shelves in the Reading Room. Indexes to other periodicals are also shelved here.
The periodicals are currently not catalogued, so please ask for further details.
There is a small collection of obituaries and memorials which are held under classmark XJ. These are not catalogued, but please see the handlist (pdf document) for details.
The UCL library catalogue (eUCLid) includes the holdings of the Huguenot Library: http://library.ucl.ac.uk/F
