Aufrère

There are two separate collections for this family in the Library.

The first collection consists mainly of the papers of the Reverend Israel Antoine Aufrère (1667-1758), a minister the Savoy, one of the French Churches in London. He corresponded with many Huguenots, both in England and abroad. He is referred to in the entry for his son, George René Aufrère, in the Dictionary of National Biography.

The second collection was bequested by a descendent of the family, Charles Poyntz Stewart, in 1926, and consists of legal documents, particularly relating to wills. Stewart was a distinguished member of the Huguenot Society.
